The course is open to seafarers who will be appointed to be in charge of medical care on board ships. Those who comes into the course should have successfully completed training in first aid on board ship, as specified in the course model IMO 1.14 of first aid.

The course is also open to seafarers who have previously completed this training medical centers who want to comply with the recommendation contained in document IMO / ILO orientation of 1985 a refresher course must be conducted at intervals of about five years.
